Report an Incident or Concern

Wappingers CSD Supports The New York State's Dignity Act (DASA)

We take the safety of our students and staff very seriously.  We encourage our students and families to report concerns to us so that we may address them as quickly as possible.  If you have any immediate concerns we recommend you speak to your building Principal so that they may address the situation right away.

“The New York State Education Department takes very seriously any action that compromises the school climate in which our students come to learn every day. All of our students have a right to a free education, and no child should fear going to school. We must do everything in our power to create safe and supportive learning environments, including providing all parents and guardians with the resources they need to be informed of their rights and the rights of their children.”
--Former NYSED Commissioner of Education MaryEllen Elia

Dignity for All Students Act (DASA)

The Wappingers CSD Code of Conduct reflects the language found in New York State's Dignity for All Students Act (DASA), and the belief that ALL students have a right to learn in an environment free from discrimination. If you feel you are being treated in a manner that violates our Code of Conduct, we encourage you to:

  • Speak with your building's Principal or any adult that you trust, and/or
  • Fill out an Incident Report Form and return it to the main office of your school. If you are submitting a form anonymously, please include enough details so that our administrators can conduct a thorough investigation.
  • Report concerns anonymously via the Anonymous Alerts App
    • Students, parents or community members can easily and anonymously communicate with us: choose a school official to contact, type of incident to report, school building, and/or a specific location, set a priority level of normal or high, and upload a photo, screenshot or video related to the incident.
    • You can choose to stay anonymous; we completely respect your right to privacy, and District administrators can still respond back to you in the app. Be sure to check the "message center" to see any responses.
    • The app is intended for reports of student-related issues such as bullying or suspicious activity. For all other concerns, please contact your child's school directly.
  • App icon for Anonymous Alerts, a service for reporting incidents anonymously via email or SMS.

New York State’s Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) was signed into law in 2012 to provide students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus, and/or at a school function, and was amended in 2013 to include cyberbullying. The law requires schools to provide students, persons in parental roles, and staff with information about DASA and to develop policies and procedures that require a safe school environment. Specifically, DASA requires school districts to develop Codes of Conduct that prohibit harassment, bullying (including cyberbullying), and discrimination against students by other students or school employees, as well as provisions for responding to incidents of discrimination and harassment and reporting such incidents to NYSED.
