(845) 897-6700 x30043Dear Students and Families,
It is with great excitement that I begin my second year at John Jay. After a great first year, I am honored to continue the work we have started. I have had the privilege to work with students and parents and the entire community for a complete school year and will continue the efforts to make the class of 2022 and exemplar of achievement.
As the Principal for the 10th Garde, it is my sincere wish that we work together for the betterment of our students. In my 14 years of education experience, I have gathered enough knowledge to understand the importance of collaboration and communication. Hence, it is my pledge to the families of the graduating class of 2022, that I will work arduously to fulfill my duties as the administrator in charge, but also to collaborate with you to address your concerns and to make sure that we work together to solve problems expeditiously and successfully.
The John Jay experience should be amazing for every student and I will continue to work together with our teachers to build academic experiences that engage them in real-world and innovative learning. I will continue to facilitate communication between parents and staff to achieve results that are in the best interest of each student in the graduating class of 2022, and every student at John Jay.
I would like to finish by sharing a bit about me for some of you who may not have had an opportunity to work with me last year. I am father of 2 daughters, one who just graduated college with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Theater Design from the Macauly Honors College at CUNY, and the other who will be coursing her senior year at Binghamton University this year, majoring in Psychology. Prior to my education career, I was a corporate accountant for 10 years. I am proud to have made a career change to education where I have been able to work with extraordinary people from whom I have learned much about morale building, teamwork and leadership. I like to read and be informed about what is new in my field and how I can infuse what I learn into my daily activities here at John Jay. I am a sports fan and passionate about soccer.
Lastly, I would like to invite you to contact my office with any questions or concerns. I would like parents to encourage their 10th Grade students to do the same. My door is always open and I welcome your input, as together we can make the class of 2022 outstanding.
Kindly,
Wilson A. Castro
