Governor Cuomo announced that higher-risk sports may begin on February 1, 2021, with approval from the local county department of health. This change in the guidance specifically pertains to the Fall II season sports of Cheerleading, Football, Girls Swimming and Volleyball at this time.High School: Fall II High Risk Level Sports (Cheerleading, Football, Girls Swimming, and Volleyball) March 8th, 2021.Modified: Fall II High Risk Sports TBD.According to the New York State Education Department, students should plan to obtain the required health examination prior to participation in the winter or spring 2020-2021 sport seasons.
Please upload the most current physical exam to your Family ID account. If you are unsure if your child requires an up-to-date physical, please contact your child’s Health Office and the School Nurse will check for you. If your child has a completed physical from a private physician please upload it onto FamilyID for approval by the school physician.

The law requires schools to provide educational materials to parents and students. The Student and Parent Concussion Information sheet can be accessed by clicking on the link below.Athletic Placement Process (APP)Clarification Regarding Maturity Assessment and Tanner Staging:The Athletic Placement Process (APP) Maturity Assessment Standards are as follows. The medical director is now instructed to take into consideration the height, weight, muscle mass, and Tanner staging as compared to the other athletes he/she would compete. This language allows a physician to use their professional judgment taking into account the totality of the student’s overall physical development. The Tanner Staging is required; however the Tanner rating in the APP document is only a recommended number. The medical director reviews the information gathered from the physical, student’s physical size and the Tanner Staging. They then render a decision on whether or not, in their professional opinion, the student is at an appropriate developmental level to compete with other athletes in the desired sport and level of competition.APP Physical Fitness Test Dates
Van Wyck and Wappingers Junior Athletes - All Athletic Placement Process Candidates are to report on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 @ 2:30pm, in the RCK Lobby to participate in the physical fitness test.** Students must have a physical, Athletic consent form and completed Athletic Placement Process packet submitted to the respective Athletic Office (WJH to RCK, VW to JJ) by Wednesday, February 17th, 2021. NOTE: The Administrative Approval, Parent Permission and Coach's Evaluation forms are to be returned, filled out, to the respective High School Athletic Office. The medical forms are to be returned, filled out, to the respective Junior High School.
