Vocabulary:
Objective- Object centered representation.
Non-Objective- Abstract art is defined as art that has no reference to any figurative reality.
Process:
Please take one of the inspiring quotes from the box. Glue it somewhere in your sketchbook and create a work that is inspired by the quote.
You must complete the following:
- Create an objective or nonobjective work
- Can be in color or not. It depends on the quote!
- A brief written explanation about how you came to your idea- this can be on the page opposite of the artwork so it doesn’t interfere with work, unless of course, it is part of the work.
Gourd Drawing DUE 12.5.17
- Draw your gourd from three different perspectives. Each drawing must occupy a page in the sketchbook.
- Begin with a light pencil sketch to define the form, textures and patterns, and highlights and shadows related to your gourd.
- Add color using colored pencil to increase the three dimensional quality of your drawings and to familiarize yourself with the gourd’s surface.
Step 2:
- Explore resources in Google classroom and independently collect images
- Begin to develop a final design.
Find your own web sites by using keywords such as gourd, gourd baskets, gourd art, etc.
Step 3 (1 sketchbook): DUE 12.8.17
- A final drawing of your gourd design demonstrates the following:
- In color.
- Expresses clearly through color, value, line and shape, the textures and techniques you intend to use.
- Is completed on a full sketchbook page and is handed in on time
- An area where the gourd is pierced.
- A surface technique such as painting, collaging, dying, staining, gold-leafing.
- A basketry technique.
- An area of wood burning
- The inclusion of at least 2 materials other than the gourd itself.

The images must be drawn to demonstrate a stylization of basic form using organic forms
Colored in to block in the positive spaces (any color you want)
Sculpture:
3 different printed images (can be black and white, but color is encouraged if possible) of the characters) you are considering for your next sculpture project
