    DONALD L. LOCKWOOD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

THE DONALD L. LOCKWOOD SCHOLARSHIP was established in March 1974 in recognition of the numerous contributions Donald L. Lockwood made to the music students and staff of the Wappingers Central School District.  Donald L. Lockwood shared his musical talents with students as a music teacher for 12 years.  He led the music staff as District Department Head for 14 years before his retirement in 1972.  During his tenure with the District, the music staff grew from 10 to 32 and the music education program became one of the best in the state.  Following his retirement, until his untimely death on November 27, 1992, he was active as a member of the Theater Organ Society in New York City, the New Hackensack Reformed Church, and as a board member of the Grinnell Library of Wappingers Falls, NY.

    HARVEY S. LEDERSTEIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The “HARVEY S. LEDERSTEIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND” was established in March, 1973, in memory of Mr. Harvey S. Lederstein, who was Director of Bands at Roy C. Ketcham High School from 1961 until 1972.  He was then appointed to the position of Music Department Head in the Wappingers Central School District, a position he held from August, 1972 until his untimely death on March 8th, 1973.  During his tenure in Wappingers he had a profound influence on the many students who were fortunate to have had him as their teacher, band director and friend.  In light of Mr. Lederstein’s considerable influence on music education in the Wappingers Central School District, a scholarship fund was established.  It is used to encourage music students’ participation in summer music programs.
