Summer Reading!

2020 Summer Reading-Students Going Into 9th Grade in 2020

  • Hi Everyone! I hope that you are all doing well, and that your summer is off to a good start!

Summer is a wonderful time to enjoy reading!  This summer, as you transition from 8th to 9th grade, the High School has provided you with a list of suggested books for you to read over the summer.  Please look over the titles, authors, pictures, and summaries to select a few that interest you. This list reflects the wide range of interests, maturity, and reading levels that comprise middle school students.  As always, parents are encouraged to be a part of their child's summer reading selections!

Please click on the following link to access the List of Suggested Titles: Going Into 9th Grade Summer Reading 2020

This PDF outlines the requirements for High School Summer Reading for 2020. If you go to the 5th slide, and click on the link for the High School you will be attending next year, and the grade you are going into (for most of you, you will click on "Ketcham Grades 9-12 Regents"), it will open up another sheet. This sheet is a list of books that the High School is suggesting you read over the summer. You will see that the list is broken down into different topics, or "genres" (Chick Lit, Dystopian, Fantasy, etc.). Pick ones that pique your interest and dive into them over the next few weeks of summer so you're prepared when you go to the High School in September! There are a TON of great titles there, I'm definitely going to be reading a few of these myself over the summer!

As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to let me know!  Shoot me an email at christine.urio@wcsdny.org and I'll response ASAP!

    Happy Reading! :D
