SAFETY RULES FOR STUDENTS
- Safety glasses and appropriate clothing must be worn at all times during work period.
- Never engage in any form of “horseplay” while in the lab.
- At no time will there be any running in the lab.
- Never operate a machine on which you have not received instruction.
- No student is to ask permission to operate any machine until he or she has been instructed or properly informed about its operation.
- No student is to operate any machine or machine equipment in the lab without first notifying the instructor.
- Never under any circumstances operate any machine or machine equipment when the instructor isn’t present.
- When in doubt about any operation or procedure, do not take a chance. Ask the instructor before going ahead.
- Never use a damaged tool for any operation, report all dull or damaged tools to the instructor at once.
- Make sure all guards are properly installed before operating a machine.
- Pay strict attention to all demonstrations of machines and tools and give special attention to all safety rules of each.
- Operate all machines in the assigned safety area.
- No more than one person to a machine at one time.
- Never talk or distract the attention of anyone using a machine.
- Keep all machinery clean, but never clean a machine while it is running.
- Never allow any oil, paint, materials or foreign matter to remain on the floor.
- Report all safety hazards you see to the instructor at once.
- Report all accidents, regardless how minor, to the instructor at once.
