Why do I assign homework? I believe homework is important because it is a
valuable tool in helping students makes the most of their experience in
school. Homework helps reinforce what has been learned in class, prepares
students for upcoming lessons, teaches responsibility and helps students
develop positive study habits.
Student’s homework responsibilities: I expect students to do their best job
on each homework assignment. I expect homework to be neat. I expect all
homework to be completely finished by class time the following day.
Teacher’s homework responsibilities: I will check all homework assignments
and record them. Since students learn from their mistakes and the mistakes
of others, the students and I will go over any questions that gave them
difficulty in solving. I strongly believe in the value of positive support
therefore I will give students praise and other incentives when they do
their homework.
Parent’s homework responsibilities: Parents are the keys to making homework
a positive experience for their children. Therefore, I ask your help in
making homework a top priority, provide necessary supplies and a quiet
homework environment, set aside a daily homework time, provide praise and
support, not allow your child to avoid homework and contact me via email at
theresa.bell@wcsdny.org or phone(845)298-5100 ext. 31029 or 50534
if you notice a problem.
As a parent, I know that there may be a night when family responsibilities
or activities make it impossible for your child to do a homework
assignment. If there is a legitimate reason why your child was not able to
complete the homework, please send a note to me on the day the homework was
due letting me know why it was not completed and we can discuss it.
The note must be signed by the parent.
Thanks for your advance support
Mrs. Bell-Groucher
