Schooled by Gordon Korman is VWJHS's One Book One School literary selection for the 2011-2012 school year. The book was chosen because of the main character's (Capricorn Anderson) very unconventional upbringing by his former hippie grandmother, Rain.

Needless to say, Cap as a 13 year old home schooled by a former hippie on a remote farm, experience entering Claverage Middle School for the first time in 8th grade will be less than perfect. The ideas of acceptance and diversity are dealt with in an interesting way.

As you hear the book read to you, or as you read the book please post your appropriate comments on this site.

Thank you for your participation in One Book One School.

#2 - What are your thoughts on Zach Powers?

#3 - If you have finished reading Schooled, what do you think about the ending? Would you have ended the story differently?

#4 - Did reading Schooled change the way you might act toward someone who is new to your school? If yes, why? In no, why not?
