• Hi Everyone!

    General Information:

    • Hope everyone is doing well and we miss you all!  This is not how I had ever imagined returning to the classroom but here we are.  We are going to do this together step by step so please don’t worry. ANYTHING you have questions on please email me or send me a Remind text.  I know all of us will be running our “class” a little bit differently (just like we do in school). We are all learning a lot as we are putting together our virtual classrooms so please bear with us!

    • THIS WEEK:

      • All students need to log into Google Classroom and answer a few check-in questions.  The Online Check-in needs to be completed by MONDAY (4/6).

      • Online “instruction” will begin this FRIDAY (4/3)

      • More class specific information is listed below.

    • NEXT WEEK: Please have your student check Google Classroom on Monday to see what we would like them to do that week.  For math we have decided to allow our students to work at their own pace somewhat so please have them pay attention to due dates of assignments.  I am planning on posting the plan for the week every Monday, but all of the forms may not all be available to fill in on Monday.

    • TYPICAL ASSIGNMENT:

      • Students will log into Google Classroom and follow the given instructions to watch the short lesson video (the videos can be found on my Google Site, I will try to keep the link for this right under the assignments for the week).  As they are watching please encourage them to “Take Notes” they don’t need to write everything down, but they might find it helpful to at least copy the example problems.

      • Students will then answer a few questions (ie “homework” questions) that are posted in Google Classroom.  The responses will be submitted through a Google Form.  There are no time limits on completing these problems, we just ask that they are completed by the end of the week.

      • We would LOVE to see some work shown but understand this may be a difficult/confusing task at first.  As we get further into this adventure this may become a requirement for some assignments.

        • To do this we have a few different options:

          • Write out work on a piece of paper and either e-mail, upload it onto Google Drive, or share in Google Classroom a picture of your work.

          • Type up your work in a Google Doc and share the Doc with me.

      • Overall the assignments for the week should not take more than 2 hours total to complete them all (approximately 20-25 minutes a day).  We MAY be posting them a little staggered so it does not seem overwhelming. We are doing our best to keep this as simple as possible.

    • If at ANY point you or your child have a question please email me.  I check my email frequently throughout the day and during the evenings as well and will do my best to answer questions, sometimes even with a recorded video response (sometimes it is easier to see the problem done than explain it in an email).

    • I will not be holding a virtual “class” every week, however I will have office hours for anyone who wants to check in and/or ask questions.  I will be available daily from 11am - 12pm on Google Meet. The code is posted on our Google Calendar (on my website and Google Site) as well as in the Google Classroom.  Students do NOT need to have their camera on if they are not comfortable. Office Hours will start on Friday (4/3). The code is: meet.google.com/fjz-hskv-tuc

     Regents-

    • **3rd Quarter Grades** I am closing the gradebook as of right now for Quarter 3.  No new grades will be entered for Quarter 3 UNLESS your student has something that will increase their grade: completed homework, test/quiz corrections, i-Ready extra credit.  We currently have until April 17th to report grades, I will take any made up work, corrections, & i-Ready extra credit up to April 15th. Snap a picture of anything you want to “show” me and email it to me!

    • Starting tomorrow and for about 2 or 3 weeks we will be working on Chapter 8 - Circles.  I am aware that the students do not have copies of our packets. Not to worry! If they would like to download, print, or just view the packet they can.  It is located on my Google Site under the corresponding chapter. If that is not possible paper and pencil will work just as well.

    • At this point we will be counting the completion of the Google Form for each assignment as attendance.  Moving forward it and other assignments may be worth points, we will let you know if and when that changes.  Beyond that we are not sure how grades will be calculated, we are waiting to hear what the district decides.

     Honors:

    • Starting tomorrow we will review what was started in Chapters 7 & 12.  Next week we will continue to work through the remainder of the chapter.

    • Every student should have this packet at home with them.  If for some reason they do not have the packet a copy can be found on my Google Site.  Each student will watch a video and look over the notes that are attached to the video.  The students will then answer the assigned posted questions as practice.

    • At this point we will be counting the completion of the Google Form or other assignment as attendance.  Moving forward it and other assignments may be worth points, we will let you know if and when that changes.  Beyond that we are not sure how grades will be calculated, we are waiting to hear what the district decides.

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

Miss you all and stay safe!

    Hello, again, Team 7 Green!

Some updates for this time of - as my honors class has coined it - "Corona-cation." 🤣  Hope you're all still feeling well and happy!

    • Teachers return to (remote) work tomorrow, with two days of meetings and plannings.  As we begin to solidify plans, we'll continue to update you.  Please be tolerant of what may be frequent emails and Remind texts, as this entire situation remains quite fluid, and changes may happen often.
    • Currently, we teachers are working on individual class schedules;  we're in the process of determining days and times that our classes will meet, as well as regular office hours that we'll offer.  Details to come in the following days.....
    • Each subject area will be holding class for approximately 2 hours/week.  Note:  This does NOT necessarily indicate that class time will be face-to-face, requiring students to meet us online.  Although some of the team teachers will utilize Google Meet for some "in-person" teaching or individual conferencing, the two hours will also incorporate time spent by students reading online info., completing assignments, etc.  Each teacher will be in touch, to let you know more specific details for their individual classes.
    • Students will be expected to "attend" class and complete work whenever it is scheduled/assigned.  Should a student miss several classes and/or assignments, the teacher(s) will be in touch with administration, who will then contact that family.
    • In case you are not aware, cell phones can be used to access Google Meet and Google Classroom.
    • Although none of us are experts on how to do this, students can also access Classroom via xBox or PS2.
    • For the first couple of weeks, the academic rigor will be less than is typical.  We'll be trying to acclimate to this new environment, and to allow the kids to do so, as well.
    • Grading is a topic which is still under discussion with the district, so I'll alert you when we teachers get concrete info.
I expect that by Monday, I'll be sending another email, with details about class times, access, and office hours.

Please know that our #1 priority is the health and safety of our students.  Bear with us during this time of trial and error, and of course, feel free to reach out via email or Remind text.  Our best wishes to you and your families!!

    💚,
Mrs. Burke, Mr. Calvin, Mrs. Knapp, Mrs. Milanese, and Mrs.O'C

    Hello, Team 7 Green!

WE HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN ABOUT YOU! 💚

It's Mrs. O'C, and first, I must state that I'm very much missing my students!!  Hoping all are well, and that everyone is staying at home, finding ways to keep busy.  (Suggestion:  Reading books is a fantastic way to keep entertained! 😉)

    And, now - to business....

A huge "Welcome back!" to our favorite math teacher, Mrs. Milanese!  🎉 While working with Mrs. Valesey was lovely and we were more than fortunate to have such a skilled math teacher be Mrs. M's leave replacement, boy, are we thrilled to have an integral member of the "framily" back in the fold!

We wanted our parents and students to know that most of Team 7 Green teachers have been, for the past couple of mornings, conducting online "team prep" meetings with each other. We've been "working behind the scenes" to try and determine the best and most beneficial (and, let's face it - easiest!) online methods to teach our students.  Guidelines by the district and state are in the process of being discussed, and naturally, we need to abide by those regulations.  Currently, our best suggestion is for all students to download Google Meet and Google Hangouts.  We believe one or both of those may be of great use to us in the upcoming days.

Our idea (please remember:  this is NOT definite yet!is to post class assignments on Google Classroom or Google Sites, maybe include some video teaching, and then, a few times/week, hold sessions with the kids on Meet or Hangouts.  At that time, the kids can ask questions, we can give clarification, and, perhaps, we can even have discussions about the assignment materials.

Be assured that we will stay in touch, as soon as we receive some solid guidelines, regarding these uncharted waters.  Of course, feel free to drop us an email or a Remind text, with concerns or questions;  we'll try our best to answer them, but please remember that we, too, are in the dark about a lot of what the immediate teaching future holds.

Stay healthy, and keep an eye out for future emails and texts from us.

    💚,

Mr. Calvin, Mrs. Knapp, Mrs. Milanese, and Mrs. O'Connor
