• Dear Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for all of your patience and support over the past couple of weeks.  I am now ready to begin online learning! I have developed a brief overview of what this new experience will look like.

What Will Our Learning Look Like?

You can access all assignments via your child’s  google classroom. You need to log on to your child’s google account.  All students have access to a Google Account that will give them access to the Google Classroom digital learning space and tools for them to access online instruction .

How to Access Your Child’s Google Classroom:

    1. Go to - classroom.google.com
    2. Enter your child’s username - Firstname.Lastname@k12.wcsdny.org (Example - sally.smith@k12.wcsdny.org)
    3. Enter your child’s password - StudentfirstnameIDNumber  (ID number is the same as their lunch number → Example - Sally1234567)

There currently is a “practice” assignment posted on your child’s classroom page under “Classwork”.   If you have already done it, great! If you have not yet gotten on to your child’s google classroom site, please do so and try completing the “practice” assignment.

I will be easing into online learning over the next week. My first lessons will begin this Monday, April 6th. I will begin with 1-2 lessons per day and slowly progress to 3 academic lessons per day. These lessons will pertain to the subject areas of Math, English Language Arts, and Social Studies/Science. Lessons will be posted by 7:00 a.m. each morning. In order to make lessons accessible to all students, these lessons will not be presented using “live instruction”. Therefore, students can view lessons and complete assignments at whatever time works best for them. Each lesson may include a video presentation and an independent learning task. All lessons and corresponding directions will be located under the subject and grade level. The associated assignments for all lessons can be submitted by day the end of the end of each day.

I am setting up temporary “office hours”. If you have a question or concern, please email me.   I will be checking and responding to emails at 10:00 a.m. each morning and 6:00 p.m. each evening.

I  will also host a short google meet from 1:00-1:30 p.m each weekday beginning April 6th.  This is for general questions and help regarding the assignments. (It is not intended to be just a social visit!)  If your question is of a personal nature, please email the teacher privately. I will set up an ongoing meeting and post the link on the google classroom site.

This is a work in progress and is subject to change!  I understand that this is a new learning experience for all of us and that it may be overwhelming at times.  I welcome any feedback and suggestions.
