•  Grading Policy

** For the start of the 2020-2021 school year, the district will be implementing Distance Learning & a Hybrid model of instruction.
My grading policy will likely evolve, as we navigate these new learning models and how to best assess students using these learning models.
I will provide updates to this policy as needed.

Students will be graded based on a variety of formal and informal assessments and observations throughout the year.

Students will be assessed in reading using the Fountas & Pinnell Benchark Assessment System 2-3 times per year, to determine independent and instructional reading levels. Running records are used throughout the year to assess ongoing reading performance and drive instruction.

Students writing will be graded and assessed based on rubrics and student checklists. In other subject areas, they will have quizzes, unit tests and proficiency scales.

Students will be assessed during the beginning, middle and end of each year with iReady. Parents/Guardians will receive copies of the reports.

Report card grades will reflect each student’s ability to meet their respective grade level standards with their program modifications and testing accommodations as stated in their I.E.P.

    Not Applicable

This mark indicates that the specific standard is not applicable as the standard is not addressed during this quarter. You should expect to see several in the first quarter especially during the earlier grades. This is because the entire curriculum cannot be taught at once. While some learning standards will be addressed throughout the entire year, others will be phased in as the school year progresses.
