    Week of June 9th – 13th: (Last Issue)

    Monday: During our morning meeting, we did our snap word card greeting. We segmented sounds to label two picture cards. During phonics, we segmented sounds to spell words on our dry erase boards. We also practiced writing a complete sentence that was dictated to us. We wrote about Field Day during writer’s workshop. During math, we connecting cubes to find partners for 6, 7, 8 and 9.  We listened to the Elephant and Piggie story, I Am A Frog. We chose our next purposeful play spots.                                             

    Tuesday: During our morning meeting, we did our snap word card greeting. We practiced counting by tens and ones. During phonics, we practiced blending sounds to read words. We learned new snap words, “so, no, go”. We made signs for the seniors coming “Back to the Nest” tomorrow. We read books from our browsing bins. We worked in math stations. We listened to the Elephant and Piggie stories, Listen to My Trumpet and A Big Guy Took My Ball! We chose our new purposeful play spots.

    Wednesday: During our morning meeting, we did our snap word card greeting. We fixed our morning message. We practiced counting by tens and ones. We welcomed the Class of 2025 back to the nest. We cheered for them as they walked the hallways of Sheafe Road. We listened to the story, Kevin and His Dad.   During phonics, we segmented sounds to spell words on our dry erase boards. We also practiced writing a complete sentence that was dictated to us. During math, we took a quiz on counting tens and ones. We worked in our last round of math stations. We listened to the Elephant and Piggie story, I Broke My Trunk.  We chose our next purposeful play spots.

    Thursday:  During our morning meeting, we did our snap word card greeting. We unscrambled a sentence to make sense. We had Library Time. We listened to another version of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We discussed the lesson learned from the story. We took a phonics quiz on labeling pictures with words that have 3 sounds and words that have 4 sounds. We listened to the story, I Love You Daddy.  We chose our next purposeful play spots. We listened to the 5th and 6th grade chorus perform some songs for us in the cafeteria.

    Friday: During our morning meeting, we did our snap word card greeting. We played “I Spy a Snap Word”. During phonics, we practiced blending sounds to read words. We learned a new snap word, “by”. We brainstormed things we learned this year in Kindergarten and we wrote about them. We practiced counting by tens and ones. We took a math quiz on tens and ones. We worked in math stations that included shapes. We listened to the Elephant and Piggie story, I Am Going! by Mo Willems. We played outside this afternoon.

     

    Reminders: Please clean out your child’s folder each evening and return it to school the next day.

    • Monday – Wednesday, June 23rd-25th _ Half days – 11:25 dismissal
    • Kindergarten moving up ceremony- Wednesday, June 25th , 10-10:30 (Last day for students)
