• "Sight Words" refers to words that do not follow a spelling rule and need to be memorized. "High Frequency Words" refers to words that sometimes follow spelling rules, but because they are frequently encountered in reading and frequently used in writing, it is helpful to learn these words by memory or by sight. 
    Learning these words "by sight" will help your child become a stronger reader and writer.
