In a co-teaching class the students with special needs learn together in the same classroom as the students without special needs.
A key difference in a co-teaching class is the lower student to teacher ratio. This enables the teachers to address the students’ individual learning needs through a variety of instructional strategies.
Both support services and enrichment opportunities are available depending upon the strengths and weaknesses of each student
A general education teacher and a special education teacher work together to teach the students.
Both of the teachers are involved in the planning and delivery of instruction, student assessment, and all aspects of classroom management.
All the students in a co-teaching class are required to meet the third grade standards.
