Third Grade
with Mrs. Tarpey
Goals
I hope for each child to grow socially, emotionally, and academically. I expect the children to take responsibility for their behavior and their learning. In the classroom, I strive to create a warm, caring, and “family” atmosphere so that each child will feel confident and comfortable enough to take risks and learn from their mistakes. Simply, I want your child’s third grade experience to be a fun positive one, where they will strive to be the best that they can be.

Planners
We have planners this year. The students will write homework assignments and reminders in their planner daily.
This folder will come home every night. Please look over any notes that come home and check and sign the planner every night. The students are responsible for bringing it to and from school.
Homework
I assign homework every night except Friday. Math homework is assigned on a nightly basis. The homework reinforces what I have taught that day. It is the student’s responsibility to complete their assignments. If the students fail to turn in their assignments they are expected to make the assignment up that night. *There will be some long term projects given with plenty of notice and time to complete.
Dismissal
A note is expected whenever you are picking up your child from school, whether it is every Monday or every day. Students are responsible for any missed work.
Absences
An absence note is required if your child is not in school. Please include your child’s school ID number. I will put worksheets that we do in class in your child’s mailbox. Let me know if you want me to send it home with anyone. Work is expected to be sent in when completed at home. If they are absent for an extended period of time they do not need to finish it all in one day, just do a little at a time
Book Orders
Book orders will be sent home monthly. Please pay by check only! This is a great way to get age appropriate books for home that are tax-free and are at a reasonable cost. You can order online using our classroom code: H9YK7
Star of the Week
Every child will have the chance to be Star of the Week. Please help your child fill out questions about themselves that will be sent home and gather some photos that your child might want to share with the class.
Snack
We will be having an afternoon snack. Please supply your child with a healthy snack (Please nothing too crumby!). We do have peanut allergies so please no snacks with nuts or peanut butter in the classroom. It is a good idea to send your child to school with a water bottle for them to use throughout the day. Unfortunately, no juice is allowed due to sticky spills
Birthdays
Our schoolwide policy is no food items to celebrate birthdays. We will sing Happy Birthday and make the day special. If you would like to send in something for the class, you can send in pencils, stickers, or other goodies (not food). If you send in birthday invitations, please be sure to have one for the whole class or all boys/all girls.
