FAQ
The following are frequently asked questions. I hope this helps.
When do we have lunch?
Our lunch begins at 12:10. All lunch money and checks are sent to the cafeteria
prior to lunch. Birthday cupcakes/snacks are handed out during our lunch time, so they should be brought to the office
no later than 12:00.
*No juice please.
Do we have a snack time?
A working snack will be given each morning before 11:00. Something quick and healthy is appreciated!
How can I volunteer in the classroom?
On Parents As Partners Night, you will be able to sign-up for various festivals to
be celebrated in the classroom.
Can I help with the homework?
Please support your child when needed. Homework is intended to be another
opportunity for your child to practice and build confidence.
"Kid spelling"/phonetic spelling is acceptable and expected at this time,
but you can write the correct spelling above the words if necessary.
*The reading aspect of homework is very crucial for your child's reading development.
You may do the reading or part of the reading as your child becomes more comfortable.
How can I contact the teacher?
If you have an urgent concern, it is best to send it in writing or call the office.
I do try to check my emails regularly, but may not always be able to.
What do I do if my child is absent?
Please call the health office when your child will miss school and send in a
note when he/she returns. Any missed work will be sent home with a friend or
family member on the day of the absence or your child will bring it home when he/she
returns.
Can I send in a snack for my child's birthday?
You may send in a snack for your child's birthday to be eaten in the cafeteria at lunch. Please let me know a day or two before.
It should be left in the office before 12:00-no juice please. There are 23 students in the class.
What do I do if I need to change my child's regular dismissal routine?
A note is necessary if usual departure changes or if your child is attending the after
school programs. Please let your child know ahead of time as well.
What rewards can the students earn in the classroom?
The students are aware of the class/school rules and review good character decisions
weekly (if not daily). An individual incentive program is in place to promote
appropriate conduct. Every day students have the opportunity to earn a punch on their
individual punch cards for making great choices during the day. When their card is full
of punches, they earn a special reward-a pick from the prize box or Lunch Bunch with the
teacher. The class also participates in a class incentive program. Working together to be a
responsible and respectful class as they travel to lunch, recess, and specials can
earn them a marble in the jar. As they reach the marble goal, they earn a class
reward-extra recess, hat day, coloring day, show and tell, ice-cream party.....We also participate in the school-wide PBIS Program (Positive Behavior in School) and the PTA
sponsored "Star Student" program, which recognizes and rewards students who were chosen by
staff members for displaying positive role-model qualities.
What consequences can the students expect in the classroom?
Students will be given reminders, but may also be asked to remove a marble from the jar if the behavior persists. Parents may be contacted as well.
What are the classroom rules?
The following rules were created and discussed in class...
*Raise your hand
*Follow directions and drills
*Respect EVERYONE
*Always try your best
*Be safe and have fun! :)
What are the room mothers responsible for?
Usually, I have the room mothers help me with the festivals throughout the year. We will meet
or connect before each party to set a date and plan the activities. Each festival usually has a
craft, a game, and snacks. The room moms will receive a copy of the party sign up list and
contact the parents as needed. We will celebrate 4 festivals this year.
