I am a graduate of Wappingers Central School District!

I grew up in the area and went to Van Wyck Junior High and Roy C. Ketcham High School.  Vassar Road students will attend Ketcham also!  I graduated from Elmira College with a degree in International Business.  When I decided to become a librarian, I went to Long Island University to get my Masters in Information and Library Science.  Just after graduating in 2001, I started teaching at Vassar Road!

I am a National Board Certified Teacher!

In 2010, I achieved National Board Certification in K-12 Library Media.  This is a rigorous certification process that involves an intense review of my teaching practices through videos, portfolios and testing.  Although I was proud to achieve NBCT status, for me the most important part was the opportunity to reflect on my teaching and focus on becoming the teacher I want to be.  If you want to learn more, visit the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards web site at www.nbpts.org.

     I love the outdoors!

I married Mr. Coyne in 2001 and we live in the district.  We enjoy nature and outdoor activities such as camping, bicycling, and hiking.  We visit Montauk, New York, every summer to camp on the beach.

    I love my pets!

I have two incredible cats.  We adopted both from animal rescue and shelter organizations.  We have had Apple for over five years and she is the queen of the house.  We adopted Marshmallow two years ago and are very happy to report that the two cats are getting along wonderfully!

We have a pet Diamond Python, Jewel, who has been with us since we've been married.

We also have a newt in the house - we adopted the newts at the end of the Kindergarten Science 21 unit several years ago.  I am happy to say we still have one very happy (and old) newt!
