Updated on (see below): Sunday, November 3, 2019

I am very excited to meet all of my new students on Thursday, September 5, 2019.
Second grade is definitely the best place to be! We will have a fun and an exciting year!

Be sure to bring all your supplies to our classroom on the first day of school.
Make sure you bring a healthy snack every day as well. I am currently getting our
second grade class room ready for the new school year.

A welcome letter has been sent home
in August telling you more about second grade.

I'm in a new class room this year!
I just moved to Room 204 this summer!

Please feel free to visit our school on Thursday, August 30 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

to meet me and drop off your supplies early. If you would like to write me a letter,

I would love to learn anything that you would like me to know about you. You can

mail it to Myers Corners Elementary School or bring it with you during the first

week of school. I'll see you in Room 204 on September 5!

Our first month of school has flown by!  We did several get to know

you activities the first week of school.  Room 204 has participated in

some fun reading activities to begin the year.  We had the opening of our

class room library and we celebrated our learning of read to self reading

behaviors with our Rockin' Readers Day.   Our class had the opportunity to

wear gloves to help us find "good-fit" books.   After reading and discussing

First Day Jitters, we made and drank Jitter Juice.  At the end of September,

our class read and learned about Johnny Appleseed.  Then, we created and

ate applesauce.  October is sure to be fun in second grade!

October was a very exciting time.  Our class had our first field trip to the

Dubois Farm in Highland.  We had the opportunity to ride on a hayride,

play at Tiny Town, pick apples from the orchard and get a pumpkin!

We read and learned many new facts about pumpkins.  Our class did a

fun Math and Science activity called Pumpkin Math that involved

measurement.  In this activity, we measured a large pumpkin, a medium

pumpkin and a small pumpkin's height, weight and circumference.  Then,

we counted the seeds that were in both pumpkins.  We were surprised to

learn that the small pumpkin had the most seeds!  Then, we weighed the

pumpkins again to see what they weighed after the seeds were taken out.

It was a fun and gooey mess!  At the end of the month, our Room Parents

did a great job organizing our Fall Party.  November is sure to be a fun month!
