I grew up in Central New York and moved to the Hudson Valley to attend college. From when I was a little girl I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher, although for a short while I explored some other areas, like working in banking and in the fashion industry! I am now beginning my 15th year teaching elementary school! I am a graduate of Marist College and I also earned a Master of Science Degree in Students with Disabilities and General Education from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry. I am dually certified in Elementary Education and Special Education 1-6. In addition, I recently earned an advaced literacy degree from Mercy College and I am now also a certified reading specialist.
I began my teaching career with the NYC Department of Education, Bronx. I spent six years in the Bronx and had an invaluable experience working in an inner city school with a diverse group of students. I am beginning my 9th year at Kinry Rd. and I am happy to be teaching 6th grade again for the 7th year! I love working with children, enjoy teaching, and I am grateful to work at such a wonderful school!
Outside of school I spend most of my time with my daughter Olivia, my son Joseph and my youngest daughter, Emme. During the summer months I like to spend time upstate, in my hometown, visiting friends in The Hamptons, and vacationing on the beach in Ocean City, Maryland! In my spare time I love to cook, bake, and browse Pinterest. I also love to read in my free time. My favorite children´s authors are Eve Bunting, and Patricia Polacco and I have many of their books in our classroom library. My favorite author is Adriana Trigiani, who I was lucky enough to meet at bookstore on Long Island this summer! Some of my other favorite things are, the color pink, lemons, the Dave Mathews Band, tea, giraffes, ballet, being near the ocean, and traveling!
