Our 6th Grade Program
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child back to school and explain a little about how we run our sixth grade program.
Your child has been assigned a homeroom, where he or she will begin each day. using our team approach,
Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday of each week. At times there will be homework on Fridays depending on the class. Each evening, your child will have a homework assignment to complete and, when applicable, he or she will need to complete any unfinished class work and.or work on any long-term projects. We suggest that a regular time and place be set aside for your child to do his or her homework. Further, your child's homework assignments will be written each day in his or her planner. We ask that you sign this planner every night. If there is no homework for a class, students are instructed to write "none" in the blank. If your child has completed an assignment in school, he or she will be instructed to write "done in class" and bring the completed assignment home for you to see. The planner will also be used as a means of communication. Further, when a student does not complete his or her homework on time, they must complete it as soon as possible and may be subject to a grade reduction for lateness.
When absent, your child is responsible for the work missed and will be given a reasonable length of time to compete it. We strongly suggest that your child set up a buddy system with a friend with whom his or her work may be delivered home daily. Your child is also responsible for any work missed due to special instruction such as instrumental music. Again, we strongly suggest that your child arrange with a friend to help keep track of what he or she misses.
Frequently during the school year, we will ask that you sign and return papers to acknowledge receipt. We thank you, in advance, for your support. All tests and quizzes, no matter the grade must be signed and returned. This is to help keep you informed of your child's progress. We also ask that you try to keep us informed of any situations that may affect your child's ability to do his or her best in school. In turn, we will do the same.
Throughout the year, should you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at 845-463-7322 or by email. We truly appreciate your cooperation and support and are looking forward to a successful year!
Sincerely,
Your Child's 6th Teachers
