Interest Meeting:  In Person @ Van Wcyk, Thursday, September 4, 2025 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Tryouts – Monday, September 8 – Thursday, September 11, 2025 3:00-5:00 p.m. @ Van Wyck gym

Practice schedule during the season will be Monday-Thursday, 3:00-5:00

• Parent Interest Meeting (VIRTUAL) Tuesday, 9/2 at 7pm
• Student/Athlete Meeting (In Person) Friday, 9/5 at 3:30pm
• Tryouts Monday, 9/8 - Tuesday 9/9 from 3:30 - 5:00 

• Wednesday, September 10^th - Practices begin (3:30-5:00pm).

• Thursday, September 18^th - First game at Carmel (George Fischer Middle School at 5:00pm).

• *Players will need to be picked up at 5:00pm from Van Wyck after every practice unless communicated otherwise.

• *Players will stay after school until 3:30pm with a monitor everyday (location:cafeteria).

• **There are no later buses for at least the first week.  Athletes will have to be picked up by a parent.**

Sept 4th 230-330 will be our player interest meeting. Everyone who is interested (eligible or in process) should attend. We will meet in the cafe after dismissal. Coach Lawrence will meet you there. Please tell your players to listen to the announcements in case of any changes.  ****Your player will need a ride home because late buses are not yet running****

Sept 8th, 9th and possibly 10th will be tryouts from 315-530. Coach Lawrence will collect the players after dismissal and get them situated. We will go over location on Sept 4th.

Depending on the number of players trying out, we may have to have cuts which will take place on Wednesday Sept 10th. For all players who make the team, we will have a parents only meeting Sept 11 directly after practice while the players are changing.

-7th grade session: 2:30-4:30 pm-Van Wyck Field
You will be notified that night by email if you made it or not, with feedback,
to the final two rounds of tryouts.
Friday 9/12:(First day of 7th/8th tryouts)-Van Wyck Field
-7th and 8th grade together session: 2:30-4:30 pm
Monday 9/15:(Final day of tryouts/Final Cuts)-Van Wyck Field
-7th and 8th grade together session: 2:30-4:30 pm

you made the final cut and become part of the next 2025 VW Griffin Soccer
Team!

Coach Oliveira’s Expectations:
● Do not wear your cleats in the gym!
● Do not play soccer in the gym and do not bother the
other sports teams as you wait in the gym!
● Respect your coach and teammates at all times!
Respect the monitor or chaperone that is watching
you before tryouts! Good behavior is mandatory!
(Please go over the school code of conduct.)
● Coming on time to the tryouts. Please inform me 24
hours before if you are not able to attend.
● Bring all your necessary gear at all times. (Jerseys or
shirts with your name on the back, if possible, cleats,
shin guards, your own soccer ball with your name on it
(optional), mouth guards for goalkeepers! etc.)
● Bring sufficient amounts of water to the tryouts.
Please take your bottles with you! Make sure your
name is on it. Do not leave it on our field or the gym.
● Take all your belongings with you.
● When you get on the field or in the gym, please wait
for instructions from me.
● Please notify your parents of your schedules. Players
should be picked up on time.
● Make sure you have been approved to play!
● Be prepared to show me your soccer skills.
