Summer/Fall 2013 Update:
The Energy Performance Project (EPC) is near completion. Ameresco has identified a variety of Energy Conservation Measures (ECM). By implementing these ECMs with Ameresco each facility within the district will become a more safe, productive and cost effective environment for the administration, staff and students. A report will not be completed until a few weeks after school has been in session.

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. – A project to decrease energy consumption throughout the Wappingers Central School District is nearing completion.
Known as the Energy Performance Project, the district is working with the Newburgh, NY-based energy management company Ameresco to install more energy-efficient equipment throughout the district. The district is also making modifications to its existing equipment. This includes lighting control systems, boiler replacements, walk-in freezer and cooler controls, gym fans and pipe insulation. The district said on its website that a progress report should be released within the coming weeks.
The library at James S. Evans Elementary is on the list for scheduled for improvements. During the weekend of October 18, the exterior windows of the school’s library will be replaced, as will the windows of its small group rooms. The district newly finished removing asbestos-containing materials in the utility tunnels under the first floor at Evans Elementary.
Over at Gayhead Elementary School, a septic system is under construction. It will connect the local sewer system to the school.
The District anticipates more work to begin in buildings across the district over the next two summers.
The ECMs identified will reduce the energy consumption through a combination of the installation of more efficient equipment and modifications to the operation of existing equipment.
