Mrs. Fuchs’ Sculpture class has been working on Bas Relief Sculptures at John Jay High School. Bas Relief is a process where the plane is slightly lower than the sculpted elements. It can only be viewed from the front and sometimes from the sides. These sculptures will be displayed in the art wing at John Jay High School, and some of them will be on display at the 67th Annual Festival of the Arts, along with artwork from every school in the district.
The Festival will be held on Saturday, May 13, in Mesier Park in Wappingers Falls from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The inclement weather date is Sunday, May 14. The Festival of the Arts is presented by the Wappingers Central School District’s Fine & Performing Arts Department and is free to the public. Come out and enjoy the beautiful and creative artwork of hundreds of students, as well as performances by choral and instrumental ensembles.
The mission of the Wappingers Central School District is to empower all of our students with the competencies and confidence to challenge themselves, to pursue their passions, and to realize their potential while growing as responsible members of their community.
