John Jay Photo Students Earn FOUR National Scholastic Awards!
For the 6th year in a row, Ms. Talbot's students in the John Jay Photo Media program and another student in Ms. Zilinski's AP Art class have earned National Medals from the Scholastic Art and Writing Association.
They are joining a legacy of celebrated authors and artists including Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford, and Lena Dunham. More than 330,000 works of art and writing were submitted by students in grades 7-12 this year. Earning a medal of this distinction places them within the top 1% of submissions.
Two students are enrolled in Robyn Talbot Howard's Photography 3 class, and both are juniors.
Olivia Casabianca earned a Silver for Mountains and Valleys
Emad Jamal earned a Silver for Blow and a Gold for Pirate Brown
The Gold medal allows Emad to attend the ceremony at Carnegie Hall on June 8th.
