A qualified candidate must obtain and submit a nomination petition to run for Board office. Board nomination petitions become available in February of that year’s election. Each nominating petition must contain the candidate’s name as well as the name and address of each signatory. Nominating petitions must be returned to the District Office 30 days prior to the school district’s Annual District Election and Budget Vote. The number of signatures required on the petition varies each year (it is the greater of 25 people or 2 percent of voters in the previous election).
Voting on candidates for Board membership takes place at the Annual District Election and Budget Vote in May.
