Voter Information

Voter Eligibility

On May 20, 2025, District residents will have the opportunity to vote on:

  • the school district's proposed budget for the 2025-2026 school year 
  • a capital improvement project
  • a bus purchase proposition
  • candidates for the Board of Education (three vacancies)

To vote you must be:

  • A permanent resident of the district for at least 30 days immediately prior to the vote
  • 18 years of age or older
  • A U.S. citizen
  • Registered with the school district or the Dutchess/Putnam County Board of Elections (depending on county of residence)

Do I need to register? If so, where do I go?

If you are registered to vote in local or national elections, you are automatically registered to vote in school district elections.  However, if you have not voted in the past four years, your voter registration may be marked inactive, and you may be required to re-register to vote.  

You may register in the Office of the District Clerk, located at 25 Corporate Park Drive, Hopewell Junction, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) between 8:30am to 4:00pm until Thursday, May 15, 2025. Registration is for new residents or residents who have not voted in a Wappingers CSD school election in the past four years. Proof of residency will be required, such as a driver’s license, non-driver identification card, or utility bill. 

Please note: registration with the District Clerk is only for school district elections. You may also register with the Dutchess/Putnam County Board of Elections for all elections:

Registration forms are available on the County Board of Elections websites for mailing or delivering to the appropriate Board of Elections or by submitting an on-line application for voter registration with the Department of Motor Vehicles at: https://dmv.ny.gov/more-info/electronic-voter-registration-application.

Early Mail Ballots

Eligible voters may now vote early by mail.  Voters requesting an early mail ballot do not need to supply a reason why they cannot appear in person at the polls on election day. 

An application bearing the voter’s signature must be completed before a ballot can be issued to the voter or designee.

Applications may also be requested by calling the District Clerk at 845-298-5000 ext. 40145 and request to have it mailed to you; or you can visit the District Clerk at the WCSD District Office, 25 Corporate Park Drive, Hopewell Junction, NY to fill out an application in-person.

TO RETURN APPLICATION: 

Early Mail Ballot Applications must be received by the District Clerk no earlier than 4/21/2025.

If the early mail ballot is to be mailed to the applicant, the application must be received by the District Clerk no later than seven (7) days before the election (May 13).  If the early mail ballot is to be delivered in person to the voter or designee, the application must be received no later than the day before the election (May 19).  

After the District Clerk receives your School District Early Mail Ballot Application, you will be mailed/given the actual ballot to cast your vote.

TO RETURN EARLY MAIL BALLOT:

The Early Mail Ballot must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00pm on the day of the election (May 20, 2025).

Reminder: All ballots must be received by the District Clerk (at 25 Corporate Park Dr., Hopewell Junction, NY 12533) no later than 5:00pm on the day of the vote.  

Absentee Ballots

Registered voters unable to vote in person can complete an application to receive an absentee ballot only if the voter meets the criteria as indicated in Section I on the School District Absentee Ballot Application.   

An application bearing the voter’s signature must be completed and returned before a ballot can be issued to the voter or designee. 

TO REQUEST APPLICATION:

School District Absentee Ballot Applications can be obtained by downloading and printing the Absentee Ballot Application.  

Applications may also be requested by calling the District Clerk at 845-298-5000 ext. 40145 and request to have it mailed to you; or you can visit the District Clerk at the WCSD District Office, 25 Corporate Park Drive, Hopewell Junction, NY to fill out an application in-person. 

TO RETURN APPLICATION: 

Absentee Ballot Applications must be received by the District Clerk no earlier than 4/21/2025.

The Absentee Ballot Application must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days before the election (May 13) if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election (May 19) if the ballot is to be personally picked up by the voter or the voter's designated agent set forth on the application.  

After the District Clerk receives your School District Absentee Ballot Application, you will be mailed/given the actual ballot to cast your vote.

The Absentee Ballot must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 pm on the day of the election (May 20, 2025).

Military Voters

If you wish to register as a military voter with the District only, please complete the Military Voter Registration Application:

Return the completed applications by email to the District Clerk at: alberta.pedro@wscdny.org 

Application for registration and ballots must be received by the District Clerk by no later than 5:00 p.m. on the 26th day before the election (April 24, 2025).  

Military ballots must be returned by mail and received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on election day (May 20, 2025).  

Student Voters
