Am I Eligible? How Do I Register?
Who may vote?
To vote you must be:
- A permanent resident of the district for at least 30 days immediately prior to the vote
- 18 years of age or older
- A U.S. citizen
- Registered with the school district or the Dutchess/Putnam County Board of Elections (depending on County of residence)
How do I register?
Because there are multiple polling sites, New York State Education Law Section 2014 requires that you to register before you are permitted to vote. If you are registered to vote in local or national elections, you are automatically registered to vote in school district elections. However, if you have not voted in the past four years, your voter registration would be marked inactive and you are required to re-register to vote.

Any qualified resident may register to vote in this year's election at the District Office, 25 Corporate Park Drive, Hopewell Junction, during regular business hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, on days when school is in session, until Thursday, May 11, 2023 (five days before the vote). Please bring one form of proof of residence, such as a driver’s license, a non-driver identification card, or utility bill.
If you are unable to register with the District Clerk by May 11, 2023, you may still register with the Dutchess/Putnam County Board of Elections.

Registration forms are available on the County Board of Elections websites for mailing or delivering to the appropriate Board of Elections or by submitting an on-line application for voter registration with the Department of Motor Vehicles at: https://dmv.ny.gov/more-info/electronic-voter-registration-application
If a registered voter believes s/he may be out of town on the day of the vote, s/he may complete an application for an absentee ballot and return it to the District Clerk no later than seven days prior to the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the vote if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter.
