The WCSD has received funding from New York State to collaborate with eligible agencies to provide 4-year olds the opportunity to participate in a Pre-K program. The District is working collaboratively with the New York State Education Department's Office of Early Learning to provide this opportunity to the Wappingers community.
The WCSD is anticipating providing a ten-month program, held five days per week, 5 hours per day, for 4-year olds in September 2021.
The District is also anticipating that the Universal Pre-Kindergarten classes will be offered at selected community agencies that are licensed by New York State.
The Pre-K application will be available towards the end of June beginning of July.
The New York State Education Department has determined that the district must use a lottery selection when there are more eligible children than can be served in a given school year. A waiting list will be developed for all students not placed.
Transportation will not be provided for this program.
Additional information will be provided to the community as it becomes available.
The mission of the Wappingers Central School District is to empower all of our students with the competencies and confidence to challenge themselves, to pursue their passions, and to realize their potential while growing as responsible members of their community.
