NEW DATE: ESSA Presentation 7 p.m. March 5 at Van Wyck
A presentation about the “Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)” will now be given at Van Wyck Junior High School at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5. The Gayhead, Fishkill, Fishkill Plains, Myers, and Brinckerhoff school communities are invited to attend.
“Every Student Succeeds Act: Placing a Focus on School Accountability & the Impact on Our Communities” will provide an overview of the new federal legislation known as ESSA, as well as the timeline for its implementation beginning with this current school year.
WCSD believes it is important for our communities to understand how our schools’ performance will be reported to the general public. An overview of the new accountability standards will be included. Questions, including if test refusals will affect building scores and if the building scores will impact the community’s perception of our schools, are expected.
The mission of the Wappingers Central School District is to empower all of our students with the competencies and confidence to challenge themselves, to pursue their passions, and to realize their potential while growing as responsible members of their community.
