Quarter 1 schedule: periods 2, 4, 6, 7, 8
Foods class is a 10-week exploratory class. It is a state mandated course worth 1/4 credit in Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS).
You will take a total of 3/4 of a credit in FACS in 7th and 8th grade. You will also take Clothing Management (7th) and Resource Management (8th).
We will be covering many topics in Foods class. These include kitchen safety, food safety, kitchen tools and equipment, culinary math and measuring, culinary vocabulary, nutrition, myplate and nutritious snacking. Throughout the quarter, we will have hands-on cooking experiences that will include a variety of foods and ingredients. These cooking "labs" will develop important skills to lead you to a self-confident and independent life.
