Welcome Back and Happy New year!!

    About my class:

The primary goal in my class is to facilitate my students' academic achievement by providing the tools for optimal communicative success. I intend to make each session interactive, motivating, and functional. This is done using real-life issues (e.g. peer pressure, internet rules, relationships) and concerns (e.g. college/career planning, financial management), social experiences (e.g. conflict resolution, problem solving, decision making), and current events (e.g. politics, local and national news).

    January 2021

    • If there is a school closing due to inclement weather, there will be no school (in-person or remote) speech sessions that day. It will be a regular snow day with no school.

    • If there is an early dismissal or delayed opening due to inclement weather, there will be no speech sessions, in-person or remote, for any students scheduled during those times only.

    • IF school closes due to Covid-19 OR if I am required to quarantine, then all students will receive their speech sessions remotely (at school or at home) as per their schedules.

    Dear Students, Parents, & Caregivers,

Speech language therapy will continue to follow the district’s 3:1 Service Delivery Model, in which there will be 3 cycles of direct speech therapy as per your child’s IEP, followed by 1 cycle of indirect therapy which will be scheduled as needed per student for that week. During both the direct and indirect cycles, synchronous and asynchronous teaching and learning will be provided,

Whether we meet in person or in a virtual format, I ask that all students and parents remain vigilant that speech and language services are considered confidential.  I expect that any information provided or observed regarding other students and their families or surroundings during group sessions be treated fairly and with respect, and remain confidential within that session.

If you have questions or need guidance that is specific to your child’s speech and language needs, I can be reached through email.

    My email address is: deborah.connelly@wcsdny.org.

    Ms. Connelly

Wishing you and yours a healthy time ahead
