Welcome to the 2019-20 school year!  I look forward to working with all students this year. I will be working at Orchard View High School and Oak Grove Elementary School. I can be reached by email and/or phone and will always do my best to get back to you right away.  I believe ALL students can be successful with hard work and the appropriate supports in place. It is my goal to have a positive impact on all students I work and interact with.
Social Workers exist to provide services to students, families and schools with the primary focus of removing barriers to academic success. School Social Workers are a vital part of the total educational process. They work in collaboration with school psychologists, school counselors, school nurses, teachers, administrators, parents and various community agencies. Information obtained through these resources is then integrated to provide social, emotional, behavioral, and adaptive functioning support to the student, his or her family, and the school.
You can check out the 'About Mr. Palanca' section to learn a bit more about me. Throughout the school year I will also be posting links to articles and videos in the 'link library' section of my page (see tabs on the left). These articles/videos will range in topics with the overall aim of providing useful information to students and parents about wellbeing, coping skills, mental health, school related challenges, etc.
The mission of the Wappingers Central School District is to empower all of our students with the competencies and confidence to challenge themselves, to pursue their passions, and to realize their potential while growing as responsible members of their community.
