    Dear Parent or Guardian,

The purpose of this letter is to provide you with important information in preparation for the upcoming school year. We are excited to meet our new 7th and 8th grade students in-person on September 9th, as well as our returning 8th graders. I look forward to a great school year!

Please read Dr. Bonk's letter very carefully. He confirmed the District is moving forward with a regular 5 day per week in-person schedule for all students. I will continue to be in touch with updates as they become available.

Student schedules will be made available to parents in our Parent Portal system beginning Friday, August 20. Once schedules are released you will be able to identify your child’s team and determine the supply list associated with that team from the Van Wyck webpage.

Student orientation is scheduled for Monday, August 23 and Tuesday, August 24. The two dates will be broken down into four morning sessions. I will share additional information with you in the very near future.

Please review the Student Handbook located on the school’s website. The handbook is filled with important information about policies and procedures that govern the school, such as our daily bell schedule, clubs, sports, and transportation.

August is National Immunization Awareness Month and as families get ready for “Back to School” the DC Department of Behavioral and Community Health is offering families free COVID vaccinations for all those interested in having their children immunized prior to the start of the school year. Appointments are required and can be made by calling 845-486-3409 or 845-486-3533...COVID vaccines are available for students 12 and up throughout the county at local and national pharmacies, doctor’s offices, and area pediatricians (Dutchess County Public Delivery, August 5, 2021).

Please join our Twitter page at #GriffinPride@Griffinpride 2. We often share important information with our families through our Twitter account.

    Thank you.

    Respectfully,

    Dr. Steven H. Shuchat, Principal
