    Dear Parents and Guardians,

The 3rd marking period began February 1. Your children’s 2nd quarter grades can be viewed in Parent Portal. Please review your children’s grades, and if you have any questions, please call the school.

February is Black History Month. As promised, students will see the Black History Month video in their classes tomorrow that highlight the contributions of African Americans to our society. The same video will be made available on the Van Wyck webpage.

The photographer from Lifetouch will resume school pictures on Wednesday, February 10, from 1:00-5:30 pm; and on Wednesday, February 17, from 12:30-5:30 pm. These two dates are for remote and hybrid students who have not had their pictures taken. You can schedule school pictures on FamilyID. Make-up dates and retakes will be scheduled soon.

The Wappingers Central School District, in collaboration with the Dutchess County Department of Behavioral and Community Health, revised its contact tracing and Covid closing protocols. You can view these changes here (https://www.wappingersschools.org/Page/33177).

Thank you for responding to the 3rd quarter hybrid-remote learning survey and for adhering to these marking period restrictions.

As always, please remember to complete the ezSCRN for your children every morning before sending them to school. If your children have any one or more Covid symptoms, they should stay home. This helps stop the spread and avoids interruptions to regular hybrid instruction.

Tomorrow, Monday, February 8, is Day 6.
Thank you and enjoy Super Bowl LV .
    Respectfully,
    Dr. Steven H. Shuchat, Principal
    Van Wyck Junior High School
