The International Thespian Society
Troop 4700 at John Jay High School
This June (2020), we will induct 3 new members into the International Thespian Society Troop number 4700 at John Jay High School.
The Society was established in 1929. The organization is named for Thespis, the ancient Greek who, according to legend, stepped out from the chorus and became the first actor. The Society’s guiding principle is a dedication to excellence in educational theatre. The InternationalThespian Society honors those students who do theatre well.
Please congratulate them if you see them, and always remember the motto of the International Thespian Society, which comes from Alexander Pope’s ‘Essay on Man’:
‘Act well your part; there all the honor lies.’
