Course Description:Just Words® is a highly explicit, multisensory decoding and spelling program for students in grades 4–12 and adults who have mild to moderate gaps in their decoding and spelling proficiency but do not require intensive intervention. The program is designed for students with below-average decoding and spelling scores and should be combined with other literature-rich programs. (as printed on the website Wilson Language .com)
Multisensory Reading This course is designed to improve decoding and encoding skills using Just Words from Wilson Reading program. Skills will be taught with a concentration on vocabulary, spelling and fluency, along with meeting IEP goals and objectives.
Students must have the following items:
pencils, index cards, highlighters and an independent reading book
Students are expected to come prepared every day. They will learn and do their best. Students are required to participate in daily lessons, individual and group readings, writing notes, and creating index cards.
Grades will be calculated for reading and spelling tests that are completed in class and shared through progress reports every 5 weeks.
It is expected that at least 30 minutes of reading is done each night at home. Occasionally homework will be assigned and expected to be completed by the following day. Only quality work will be accepted. Any missing assignment will receive a zero, however, students will have an opportunity to make up missing work. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to make up the assignment.

The Wilson Reading System (WRS) is the flagship program of Wilson Language Training and the foundation of all other Wilson programs. Based on Orton-Gillingham principles, WRS is a highly-structured remedial program that directly teaches the structure of the language to students and adults who have been unable to learn with other teaching strategies, or who may require multisensory language instruction.
