• A little bit about Mrs. Koehler....

September will be the start of my 17th year teaching and my 16th year as a Fishkill Frog! I feel very lucky to be a part of the Fishkill School family! I was a Special Education Teacher for 3 years and then switched to a general education classroom.  I taught 1st grade for 6 years, kindergarten for 2 years , 2nd grade for a year and I am so thrilled to be in 3rd grade for the third year this year.  I received my Bachelor's Degree from Mount Saint Mary College and my Master's Degree in Literacy from Mercy College.

My teaching philosophy: I believe every child is capable of learning no matter what! Every child learns differently. It is my job to adapt and change based on individual needs. All children will learn to read, write and do arithmetic but what is most important is how they feel getting there. I will make sure my students feel great about themselves. They will learn how to collaboratively work with others. They will learn to be risk takers. They will learn that when to going gets tough they keep working harder and stronger to meet their goals. They will learn that ift they don't meet their goals right now that is OKAY! They will eventually get there.
