Mrs. Neevel in kindergarten Mrs. Neevel much later
Let me tell you a little something about myself.
I graduated from Marist College with my degrees in Special Education and Elementary Education. I also received my Masters Degree in Reading from Western Connecticut State University. I began teaching in the Wappingers Central School District 34 years ago (yikes!) as a resource room teacher. After working as a special education teacher in a self-contained classroom and in an ICT classroom, I switched to Elementary Education. I taught first and second grade for 10 years before becoming the reading teacher at Brinckerhoff. During my 8 years as the reading teacher I was also a literacy coach for the district, and I pushed into grades K-3 to teach writing.
This is my ninth year teaching kindergarten and I’m really looking forward to working with your children. My goal is to make learning an exciting part of their lives and to create a classroom environment where your child feels safe, comfortable and happy to come to school each and every day.
When I’m not in school I enjoy spending time with my husband, Mr. Neevel (who retired a year ago as a 5th grade teacher at Brinckerhoff) and my daughter, Hailey who is beginning her senior year at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) in NYC. I also enjoy shopping, reading books, spending time on the beach and running through the neighborhood.
I believe that learning is a life long adventure…so join me, as we continue the journey together!
