• Counselor Collage

Dear John Jay Students and Families:

We hope you are well and staying safe. In this current platform of online distance learning, your school counselor is still here for you. On Friday, April 3rd, classes will resume.  If you have any concerns or questions you can still reach out to your counselor via email. Please make sure you have joined the school counseling Google Classroom. Any general information will be communicated via Google Classroom.  It is recommended that you email your classroom teacher if you have a question regarding a specific class assignment or specific class question.

We have created a collection of resources to help during these stressful times, please utilize as needed. On the School Counseling webpage, there is a link for information on self care and mental health for students and families to use.  You can find all information via this link:

A major key in online learning is time management and discipline. Here are some tips for being successful:

    • Make a schedule and stick to it
    • Create a study space
    • Stick to one task at a time
    • Stay well rested
    • Get rid of distractions
    • Create a calendar to keep track of assignments
    • Communication

Again stay home, stay safe and if you need anything please email your counselor.

    WCSD School Counseling Mission Statement

The WCSD School Counseling program supports students socially, emotionally, and academically to enhance school achievement, to ensure all students reach their full potential; become productive members of our community and are lifelong learners.

In the Wappingers Central School District, the School Counseling Department works to ensure a safe learning environment that promotes tolerance and acceptance of all students. Counselors serve as a resource for students, parents, and teachers alike, helping to address some of the everyday challenges facing our students. Together, counselors work in collaboration with students and parents to ensure student success in the areas of academics, career planning, and personal goal setting.

The goal of the JJHS School Counseling Department is to foster the personal, social, and academic growth of each of our students. While doing well academically is of the utmost importance, it is also important that our students grow to be responsible, caring and educated citizens of society. Each of the school counselors is committed to helping each student perform to the best of their academic ability and to encourage a positive school experience.
