Sheafe Road Elementary School was built in 1964 as a
twenty room school. It is located at 287 Sheafe Road in the
Town of Poughkeepsie. An addition was added in 1971
increasing the size to its current thirty rooms. The
enrollment consists of 650 students ranging from
Kindergarten to Grade 5 with approximately 70 teachers and
support staff.
Some of the many programs offered at Sheafe Road include; the regular K-5 education program, English as a Second Language, Special Education Self Contained, Special Education Inclusion classes, Art, Music, Physical Education, Speech Therapy, Computer Instruction, Library, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, SchoolPsychologist,and Social Worker services as well as Peer Mediation and Student Council.
Sheafe Road also has an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and an equally active School Leadership Team (SLT). Both of these programs are committees with membership from parents, teachers and the community. All meetings are open and your attendance is encouraged. Check the calendar for dates and times.
