| Egyptian -Pyramids | Tessellations:. | Contour Drawing: |
| Sixth grade students created these three-dimentional pyramids as part of their Egyptian studies in the art room. Each side of the pyramid had a required design. (Egyptian figure / Plant used by Egyptians / Animals / Hieroglyphics) | Tessellation designs are created by cutting a square piece of cardboard
and rearranging the pieces so that they form a new shape. This new shape
is traced onto the paper; because of the way the square is cut, the shapes
interlock like a puzzle.
The 7th grade students color their designs using markers ,colored pencils and/or crayons. The artist, M.C.Escher is well known for his intriguing tessellations. |
Contour- is a line which shows or describes the edges, ridges or outline
of a shape or form. Eight grade students study perceptual drawing by carefully
observing contours of their subject. These drawings portray a "natural"
subject theme of plants.
