FISHKILL PLAINS PTA
MEETING MINUTES OF 1/25/01

Before the official PTA meeting, Margery Wadkins, ELA Coordinator, spoke to us concerning the upcoming ELA tests. She explained what they are, how they will be graded, and gave us samples of the tests. Thank you Margery!

The PTA Meeting was called to order at 7:42 p.m.

Treasurer's Report: Lisa Ruvo presented the Treasurer’s Report. Also noted, there will be a bake sale on Feb. l4.

Council Rep. Report: We did get two reps to represent us at the monthly council meetings. They will alternate months. Thank you to Linda Kugler and Shelly Black.

Teacher Liaison Report: There was some concern from the teachers concerning no programs scheduled lately. Mrs. Epstein explained that this half of the year, the teacher’s were concentrating on the ELA test. Our representative does have some programs planned for the later part of the year. Also noted was concern about the Shining Star program. The teachers thought it defeated the purpose because every student was eventually chosen.

Principal Report: Mrs. Epstein said everyone was gearing up for the ELA tests. She was also very impressed with the writing skills of the 4 grade students.

Christmas Boutique: The boutique was super, although we did lose money. Other ideas were discussed concerning next years boutique and they will be discussed more as the time draws nearer.

Fabulous Family Fun Nights: The first one is Friday, 1/26/01, and a movie will be shown.

Membership: Membership is going great, compared to last year. There are still about 5-8 teachers who did not sign up yet. Barbara Greenberg will get those names to Mrs. Kavanagh to help with membership.

PARP: PARP is scheduled for March l2th thru March 30th.

Spring Fundraiser: We are going with Gertrude Hawk and it will run 2/23/01-3/9/01. All money raised will be going toward the Spring Carnival.

Yearbook: The yearbook is progressing well. The PTA members decided on a cover tonight.

Classroom Gifts: It was decided that each classroom will receive a $25 gift voucher from the PTA. The teachers will have four places to purchase items from.

The meeting adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
