Meeting was called to order at 3:50pm. 7 were in attendence.
The following PTA Board was in attendance:

Principal's Report: Mrs. Epstein was absent.
Teacher Liaison: Mrs. Plambeck was absent. Nothing was reported.
Treasurer's Report: Total being given
to the Avis family is $1,000.00. This includes $850 in checks
received that were donated from Fishkill Plains families, $27 from donations
raised at Family Fun/Bingo Night and a PTA donation. Also, there was another
$69.00 in cash donated by Fishkill Plains families.
Faculty of our school also collected $1530.00 in donations
which includes $200 from Oak Grove and $210 from Vassar Rd schools.
Thank you to all who donated!
Family Fun - BUNCO night will be run by Kathy Rattigan March 20th.
BookFair will be April 23, 24, 25. Family Night will be be make your own sundae.
Avis Family donation: In total, around $2000 was collected. Check made out and sent.
PARP "Readers Become Leaders". Starts
March 3rd for 3 weeks. Parents can sign up to be mystery
readers.
What happened to 'No TV' week that we used to do?
Butterfly Garden: $500 grant will be used by 3rd - 5th Grade. Starting to work on this next month. Cement benches are needed, so keep your eyes open for a good price and let Peggy know.
Kindergarten Readiness - Tues, March 4th 7pm. Shelly will make coffee and set up refreshments for parents with children entering our school next year as a Kindergartener. Mrs. Plambeck and Mrs. Epstein will speak about Kindergarten and our school.
PTA Council - will be held on March 6th 7pm at Fishkill Plains. We will have 1st Graders reading. We will have to find out more info on that. This meeting is only for PTA Board members/reps, Union Rep,... We are still looking for a rep to attend these meetings once a month.
Lessons Before Bedtime: March 11th . Refreshements will be in the APR. Mrs. Blake will be in charge.
Referendum Vote: March 11th. Please VOTE. Also there will be John Jay Beauty and the Beast sneak peek going on at Fishkill Plains on the stage in the APR.
Programs: Queen Ner program was excellent! The focus was Black History Month singing and instrumentals with a story. Earth Ball is next and will take 3 days to get thru grades 1-5; Kindergarteners will be able to see the Earth Ball, but the program itself is not geared to this low age. Hot Air balloon will be coming up soon. PAWS Proper Attention Water and Shelter run by Police dept and SPCA is a free pgm that we are trying to fit in.
Fund Raisers: Food/Snacks Fund raiser has gone home. Mini-cookbook will be sent home around Mother's Day. Earth Friendly Cleaning will be mid-April for Earth Day.
Talent show information has gone home and sent home on e-mail. Kathy Rattigan and Kris Spafford are co-chairing.
District Science Fair for 5th graders at John Jay will be March 15th . April 10th K-4th Fair will be at Fishkill Plains; chair is Cheryl Migitz.
Open house will be held April 10th.
April recycling campaign will promote protecting the earth. Ideas welcome.
Campbells Labels: we have ordered a mini
greenhouse for the butterfly garden and an assortment of balls, hoola
hoops, gym equipment... They have a nice variety in their catalog.
If parents register online, when you go shopping at other sites points,
a pop-up appears and you click on it and points go toward our school's
Labels. Shelly will send a memo.

juice lids are some of the items we are trying to save. A complete

Locks for Love is a group that collects 10" pony tails to make wigs for children in need of them. We are looking for hair dressers to volunteer their time. The date for our "donate your hair" event will be either Monday April 21, 28, May 5th 4-8pm. No bleached hair; dyed, permed, gray are ok. The Southern Dutchess News and radio stations will be called for publicity.
Officers for next year's PTA. These positions are open: Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary,Vice President of Committees, Treasurer. Peggy will remain as President and Traci will stay on as Vice President of Membership.
E-mail Distribution: People are saying they are not receiving the e-mails. We will need to send home another paper memo to remind people how to sign up. If you think you are signed up, but are not receiving memos, please go to the website and UNsubscribe and then SIGN UP AGAIN.
Always Growing program will be March 27th 6-7pm for Boys and March 28th for Girls. Dr. will come and talk about puberty and adolescent changes.
School store: Debbie Martin will hold School store Tuesday, March 4th during lunch periods. Erasers, pencils, folders, ... and various school supplies will be available for the kids to buy. Send $3 or $4 to buy a couple of things; most expensive item is $2.75.
Committee Folders: If you run a committee, we would love for you to put together some notes(what worked, what did not) to be put into a folder which can be handed to the Committee Chair that will run the Event the next and following years. This is standard practice in other PTAs and we would like to adopt this for our school. Send Shelly (SDBlack@us.ibm.com) any notes and she will link to them from the Event Descriptions that are already on the website for easy access and filing. See the Holiday Shop notes as an example.
Please encourage neighbors/friends/other parents to come to the meetings.
