The meeting was called to order at 9:15 am.
Mr. Allen talked about our School Safety Committee. He spoke about the school emergency crisis teams role in an emergency (such as 9/11). Discussion turned to how issues within the school are handled (i.e. one child hurting another, etc.).
The minutes from the last PTA meeting were approved.
Treasurer’s Report: No new items.
Correspondence Report: Thank you cards for Shining Stars ice cream party. We also sent a donation for Mrs. Brunett’s father, who passed away.
Principal’s Report: The Talent Show is this Friday. We are also planting trees on Friday for two memorials – 9/11 and Castle Point Veterans.
Teacher Liaison Report: Mrs. Plambeck wanted to encourage more teachers to come to meetings and parents to talk to teachers.
Carnival: There will be a meeting at Colleen Croce’s house on 5/6 at 9:15 am to talk about the carnival.
Flag Day: This will be June 14. Alice Doherty, chairperson, has met w/ Mr. O’Loughlin and Mary Merenda for beginning planning stages.
Programs: Astronaut Kevin Kregel came to our school in March and it was great. There was also another program called Bully Busters that the children really enjoyed.
School Spirit: The order is due for shirts by Friday.
Science Fair: Participation in the fair will be 2nd, 3rd & 4th graders.
Shining Stars: This is going well. This month is Grade 3 and the theme is Tolerance.
Talent Show: Dress rehearsal went well. The show is this Friday.

New Business: The new bylaws will be available to be reviewed on the website as well as in the school office. We will vote on these next month.
Open Forum: Discussed how new committee chairs will be set up. We will try to send memos before June to start for next September.

Dr. Gersen to speak on new budget.
