Thoughts become words.
Words become actions.
Actions become character.
Character is everything.

Dear Parent/Guardian
:
We are pleased to announce that we received favorable results during the most recent
water testing at Fishkill Plains! Mr. Thomas Rosato, Director of Facilities and Operations met
with me this morning to go over the water quality test results taken for both Van Wyck and
Fishkill Plains. Both test results indicate an absence of e-coli and coliform and the water
continues to be safe to drink. Test samples were taken on 2/26/09. The next sampling date
will be 3/26/09. We will continue to have our water tested at regular intervals.
In a letter dated February 23, 2009, we explained that the water was now safe to drink and,
as a result, the water fountains were on and operational. This meant it was no longer
necessary to purchase bottled water for the building. However, to be pro-active, Mr. Rosato
is keeping additional bottled water in storage within the building, as well as a back-up
supply of water in the district warehouse. If the water becomes discolored or contaminated
again he will be able to quickly provide potable water for our students.
The faculty and staff organization at Fishkill Plains leases their own water cooler at no
expense to the district. Students are encouraged to bring in their own bottles of water if
they wish to do so. It is certainly less disruptive to the classes for students to have water at
their desk than to leave the classroom for a drink.
We expect that our water situation will be solved permanently in the near future as the
district continues to work with the town of East Fishkill. I will continue to keep you informed
as things change with the water situation. In the meantime, if you have any other questions
or concerns, please feel free to stop by and see me or give me a call. Mr. Rosato is also
available to answer your questions.
Thank you for your continued support, understanding, and patience. As you know, the
health, safety and well-being of all of our students is always our most important objective!
Respectfully,
Sylvia Epstein, Principal
