BUDGET MESSAGE FROM THE INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT

 
Together with members of our District team, during the coming weeks I will be making a number of budget presentations at 7:00 pm at schools around the District. I invite and encourage you to attend any one of these presentations to learn more about the 2012-13 school budget and what it offers for our children and community. There will be opportunities at each presentation to ask questions.

Wednesday, May 2 at Oak Grove Elementary 
Thursday, May 3 at Evans Elementary
Wednesday, May 9 at Vassar Elementary
Thursday, May 10 at Myers Corners Elementary

If you are unable to make one of these presentations, you may be interested in viewing the power point slide show and the general presentation information. This information, as well as the full schedule of presentations, can be found by following the links on our District homepage. You can also submit questions about the budget to budget@wappingersschools.org and we will do our best to provide a prompt response.  

The budget has been carefully prepared over many months and the result is a budget that is fiscally responsible and educationally sound. The budget allows for the maintenance of the best conditions possible for student learning. With the addition of full day kindergarten, the budget also creates new possibilities and opportunities    for our children to grow and learn from the time they take their first steps in our schools. The budget also provides us with the necessary means to keep pace with new and changing state mandates, such as the new common core standards, the new annual professional performance appraisal requirements, and the Dignity For All Students Act, as well as with District initiatives that have already become an integral part of our academic program. As we approach the end to a school year, I urge    you to engage in the most important first steps that will establish a firm foundation for the next school year. I thank you for your support of our students and programs   and urge you to participate in the budget vote on May 15, 2012.
