Literacy Night, which took place on Thursday evening, October 25, was a fun-filled family event that the Oak Grove PTA has hosted for the past three years. It allows parents and children to browse the Scholastic Book Fair, while enjoying games and crafts planned around the theme of the Scholastic Book Fair. This year's theme was "A Blizzard of Reading," and children were able to enjoy a "snow ball" fight in the gym, hosted by Mrs. Turpin-O, who dressed as a penguin, a "snowman" building contest in the cafeteria, hosted by Mrs. Brown, and the ever popular donut eating game, in the lobby, hosted by the PTA. Mrs. Rooney, the principal of Oak Grove, dressed as a Snow Princess, read to children in the library. The Wexler family donated their time and the use of their snow-cone maker, and made snow-cones for all to enjoy. We also had a variety of wintery crafts and coloring pages for the children.
